About a month ago I celebrated my anniversary of one year here at Ormsby Street looking after the marketing side of things, so thought it timely to take a look back at what we’ve achieved over the past 12 months…
In early 2014, Martin Campbell began the process of setting up Ormsby Street – which any new business owner will know, is not a small task! (and wrote a fab piece about this here if you’d like to learn more about the thinkings of a modern-day entrepreneur). Being responsible for marketing a company which has just formed can be somewhat of a challenge, but by choosing a team of people who came from small business backgrounds (from startups to the charity sector) and everyone being ‘new’ together, really created a great position where everyone was able to pitch in and get their ideas and thoughts heard; and ending our initial month’s Agile/Scrum/Lean training with a somewhat challenging IoD yacht race was the perfect way to gel the initial team to gel!
After several discussions about the name, CreditHQ was launched towards the end of 2014 – Ormsby Street’s first product allowing small businesses to understand the financial health of the customers they invoice and ultimately get paid on time (https://blog.ormsbystreet.com/2014/11/18/ormsby-street-launches-latest-version-of-credithq/).
Since then we’ve been out and about spreading the word about CreditHQ – from sponsoring a Silicon Drinkabout in our neighbourhood of Shoreditch, London and Birmingham business shows, to being part of the UKTI Expo at SXSW in Austin, Texas and pitching in front of industry leaders and investors at TNW Amsterdam.
We were also a Credit Today Award Finalist (just being pipped to the post but coming a very respectable second in ‘Best Use of Technology’ category!), included in The Guardian’s ‘small business showcase’ not once but twice (for one of the best startups in 2014 and for ‘small business leader’ for our MD, Martin), plus becoming partners with The Formations Company and a whole heap of mentions in various publications. Next month will see us attending the Vendor Excellence Awards where we’ve again been nominated for an award.
Phew – quite a year! We’ve got a lot up our sleeves for the rest of 2015 and beyond, so keep an eye on our site or our blog for more news. This weekend we’re off to Belfast to exhibit CreditHQ at MoneyConf 2015 where Martin will also be doing a short pitch. Maybe see you there?!
